Repeat Control Timer - RCT

Instructions - 2000

The RCT, from Haunt Master Products, Inc. is a repeat cycle dual timer for the control of a haunt scare/display. It requires a heavy duty or alkaline 9-volt battery, or battery eliminator*, and because of its metal case must be plugged into a properly grounded, 120 volt A.C., three prong socket

With its A.C. cord plugged in and battery switch "ON", or in "TEST" position, the RCT's 120 volt output socket is alternately powered "ON" and "OFF". Separate knobs adjust T1 which is time "ON" and T2 which is time "OFF". Any 120 volt A.C. powered device or devices whose (total) current draw is within the range of this unit's capability (see specifications) may be plugged into the RCT.

The RCT's "TEST" switch position illuminates separate LED's during T1 and T2.  When using a battery to supply the 9 volt d.c. power, the "TEST" position should only be used to set the desired timing. The green LED indicates when A.C. power is "ON" (T1) and the red LED when it is "OFF" (T2) the socket. With this visible feedback the T1 and T2 knobs may be set to give "ON" and "OFF" times from 0.1 to 140 seconds, even without A.C. power or the device to be powered, connected.

Since the LEDs drain power from the RCT's battery, they should not be illuminated during normal operation*. The RCT's "ON" switch position should be used for normal (max. battery life) operation.

Electrical Safety Comment: there is NO shock danger from touching any part of the white plastic terminal strip, or any of the wires or resistors attached to it.

OPERATION:
1) Install a 9-volt battery or 9-volt battery eliminator.
2) Adjust timing knobs using toggle switch in "TEST" position.

Note: the FIRST time toggle is placed in "TEST" both LEDs may light, but after T1 times out, the flip-flop operation should begin as normal.

3) Plug the RCT's line cord into a known grounded (3-prong) 120 volt A.C. socket. This prevents the metal box enclosure from ever becoming electrically charged and thus being a human shock hazard.
4) Plug a 120 volt A.C. operated device, that does not exceed the RCT's output specifications, into the socket of the RCT
5) Turn toggle switch to "ON" position.

RCT Specifications
[Please do not exceed limits or we'll both be disappointed.]

Timing is initiated by toggle switch ["ON" or "TEST" position]
Maximum switched RESISTIVE A.C. current = 10.0 amps
Maximum switched INDUCTIVE A.C. current = 4.0 amps
Timing circuit requires a 9 volt d.c. source capable of supplying at least 50 milliamps.
Battery Life* with Toggle Switch in "ON" position:
"Heavy Duty" 9-volt Battery Life = 18 hours.
"Alkaline" 9-volt Battery Life = 40 hours.
Range of Time settings:0.1 to 140 seconds (dial markings approximate)
Repeat accuracy: +/- 1.5%

*Note: A Battery Eliminator may be used with the RCT. It must be rated a minimum of  50 milliamps at 9-volts d.c. and the voltage output must not exceed 15 volts d.c.

Limited Warranty

Haunt Master Products, Inc. warrants the RCT, to the original purchaser, against operational failure due to defects in parts or assembly for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. A copy of the invoice must accompany the unit's return for In-Warranty repair/replacement.
